Fall has me inspired for some deep moving techno. And as I head into the final stretch of this one year challenge I'm looking to explore this type of sound over the next several weeks if not more. So far this year I've covered quite a few songs, especially if you count remixes I've done. But as I was having another bout of self doubt I decided if I could only be known by one type of genre I think it would have to be techno. My fear has always been burnout. I have musical ADD sometimes and I think it's time to tame it and really hone in on what I truly love. My other fear is that people will get bored and tune out. So I pushed this first track past the 8 minute range to test myself. In the end a track is as long as it has to be. Look for more in the weeks to come.
Whoa. I can't believe I've made it 40 weeks so far, consistently posting a new piece of music each week. Sometimes they tumble out in two's and three's but other times it's much more difficult. I will say that my attention is sort of all over the place. So many ideas to try that I can't seem to settle on a specific sound. So for the next ten weeks I plan to focus in on and refining a more techno sound. Enjoy this last piece of ambience in the meantime. Thanks for listening.
My friend Leif Anders (aka BUZY) and I worked on a remix recently. It's a crazy rendition of the Oceans of White theme for Sensation. Well, our mix certainly takes the cake for crazy. Violins, violas, and cellos all rub elbows with dubstep bass, trance chugs and choirs. It's the hardest I've worked on anything in a long time. Click the link below to take a listen and enjoy.
http://play.beatport.com/contests/sensation-the-ocean-of-white/523f97ffb8ed7405ff674bca It's been another heart breaking week. While things seem to shamble on from ok to meh, we seem to be slowly diverging. Winners on one end and the losers on the other. Like being sucked into the deep end of the pool by an older bully, it's rather frightening if you stop and think. By now we were supposed to work less and have more free time, letting computers and robots take over our functions a bit. And in many ways they have. And most of us have accepted that we're not on our way to a great sci-fi utopia, but instead sliding slowly into dystopia. Are these thoughts possible to convey with music? I'd like to think The track this week really started out with me thinking about how the "road to hell is paved with good intentions" . I managed to walk down that road a couple of times this week by accident. Even the smartest among us will make this mistake from time to time. It's good to keep your heart open to those around you so that you don't take them for granted. Enjoy. Heading into my second season DJing for the North Star Roller Girls on October 5th. Come on out to watch some amazing sportsmanship as the new rookies get to play in their first bout (and of course to hear some great music). If you don't have tickets yet go get them here: northstarrollergirls.com.
